Major Movements In The Gun Control Arena On The Positive Side!

Since January there has been a lot of posturing back and forth within the federal government, state and local government, individuals, school districts, law enforcement agencies, etc. regarding the gun control debate. As most law abiding citizens I find it shaming what our current administration and members of our federal government are trying to push upon “we the people” without a vote. What I hope to do here is give you some facts regarding the “pro” or positive side of the gun control debate. Those of us on the side of the 2nd Amendment will affirm that proper gun control means proper grip and trigger control!

Since January there are 10 states that have stepped forward to consider legislative action against any potential firearm/gun legislation. States from Oregon all the way to South Carolina.

Since January there are several firearms manufacturers that have moved or are considering moves out of their current states of operation. See below:

Shield Tactical (Orange County, CA to Shiner, Texas)
Magpul Industries (From Colorado to TBD)
Smith & Wesson (From Rochester, NH to Springfield, MA)
Beretta USA Corp (Maryland to TBD)
Colt Manufacturing (Connecticut to TBD)
Considering Leaving Connecticut are Sig Sauer Inc., Sturm, Ruger & Co. and Heckler & Koch USA)

Since January there have been several actions and statements taken by various LE officials. See below:

*April 9th, Published today, PoliceOne.com announced they recently completed a Gun Control survey of 15,000 registered law enforcement personnel that clearly shows that 95% of all LE officers polled do not believe that a federal ban on magazines and semi-auto firearms would reduce crime. Additionally, 80% of these law enforcement professionals also agreed that casualties at Sandy Hook Elementary would “have likely been reduced” if “legally-armed citizens” had been in the school.
*April 9th, today, York County (South Carolina) Sheriff Bruce Bryant announces he will uphold the Constitution of the State of South Carolina and the Constitution of the United States of America, stating no president has authority over a state, nor will he enforce any federal firearms legislation.
*April 3rd, 16 Colorado Sheriff’s announce they oppose the new Colorado Gun Legislation in a massive news conference held ahead of President Obama’s visit later that day.
*March 1st, Milwaukee County (Milwaukee, WI) Sheriff David Clarke calls on citizens to take classes and arm themselves.
*February 4th two Chattanooga County Sheriffs announce they will not enforce any new un-constitutional federal gun legislation.
*January 18 Charleston (South Carolina) Sheriff Al Canon announces he will refuse to enforce any new federal firearms legislation.
*January 16th Linn County (Oregon) Sheriff Tim Mueller announces that he will not enforce any “unconstitutional” gun control laws.
*January ~ Indiana Sheriff’s Association published a letter titled “Statement of Gun Control”… in a nutshell stating “As Indiana’s Constitutional Sheriffs, we remain focused on solutions, but we will not accept any concept that separates law abiding citizens from their 2nd Amendment Rights without due process.”

Then, today while doing my research, I came across the CSPOA (Constitutional Sheriff’s and Peace Officers Association) today (http://cspoa.org/sheriffs-gun-rights/). A very interesting site set up “To equip sheriffs, peace officers and public officials with the necessary information and public support to carry out their duties in accordance with their Oaths of Office.” Below is some information contained on the site:

The following sheriffs, state sheriff’s associations, and police chiefs have vowed to uphold and defend the Constitution against Obama’s unconstitutional gun control measures. We applaud these public servants for their courage and conviction.

There are a total of 15 state Sheriff’s Associations (408 Sheriffs)
California
Colorado
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Kentucky
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
New Mexico
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Utah
Wyoming

There are 59 Sheriffs from Texas who have signed affirmations of their oaths in support of CSPOA and the citizens of the United States and our Constitutional rights! But, Sheriff Adrian Garcia from Harris County (Houston) is not among the Texas Sheriffs in support of our Constitutional rights.

As of today, the Blaze (www.theblaze.com) has identified 14 GOP senators who are set to filibuster any gun legislation proposed by Democratic Senator harry Reid, most likely by tomorrow. Below are the 14 GOP Senators:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
Ted Cruz (R-Texas)
Rand Paul (R-KY.)
Mike Lee (R-Utah)
James Inhofe (R-Okla.)
Richard Burr (R-N.C.)
Mike Enzi (R-Wy.)
Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)
Jerry Moran (R-Kans.)
Pat Roberts (R-Kans.)
Ron Johnson (R-Wis.)
Dan Coats (R-Ind.)
Mike Crapo and James Risch of Idaho.

These senators are the ones to watch. Will any of them bend? Will they all participate in the filibuster? Will the filibuster temporarily end any further attempt to reduce our rights to own firearms. Will they have citizen support? Will any additional GOP senators join them? How about Democratic senators?

The key in this whole issue/debate is to arm yourself with facts. Arguing with rationale or from emotion will not work, as the “other side” will argue the same way. Get your ducks in a row, Support your reps and senators with emails, letters and phone calls. Call your county sheriffs and police chiefs and ask them to reaffirm their oaths to uphold and protect their state and US Constitutions. We cannot sit idly by because if any type of new gun legislation passes and we have done nothing about preventing it, then we ourselves are to blame and have no right to complain about it.

What are your thoughts?
