If you had a chance to live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Me? The good ole U.S. of A! Larry the Cable Guy asks a question in a commercial… “What do I love most about this country? HA, that’s a trick question because I love EVERYTHING about this country!” I have had the chance to travel to a few different countries. they were nice to visit, but they were not the United States of America. I love the history on which the basis of this great nation was founded! Plain and simply put, FREEDOM! The desire for freedom in all aspects of life… religion, speech, pursuit of what makes you happy and freedom from the tyranny of government oppression!
The second amendment was so critically important to our forefathers and the founding bullwork of this nation, that there have been numerous articles written about it (many from the forefathers themselves!). Thomas Jefferson wrote, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” But, take another look at the second amendment. It is a two-point declaration. First, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state (,)” refers to each state having it’s own militia or state guard if you will, to ensure it’s individual sovereignty as a state and to the protection of the nation as a whole. And secondly, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The second amendment ensures state and national sovereignty against outside intervention AND that the individual citizens within those sovereign states can AND will use their arms (not singular, not an arm, but plural) to protect themselves from the tyranny of it’s very own government! Bull you say? Here is another quote from Thomas Jefferson… “No man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
Wow!!! Have you ever pondered the magnitude of what this constitution of ours was meant to do? It was designed to keep us free and keep us from the oppression of our very own government! What insight these men had. Why? Because they had lived it in their lifetime and knew it could very well happen again!
I am a citizen of these United States of America. I love this country and I love the freedoms and rights my constitution affords me. THIS is why I have firearms. This is why I practice gun safety. This is why I practice shooting. Because I can and I love it! And I love teaching people how much enjoyment they too can get out of it.
